Volante’s dam Contessa LVP from LVP Stables in Belgium is from stamm 1298 and is a very strong, well proportioned mare with exceptional conformation. She is athletic and moves exceptionnaly well.

Contessa’s sire Contender won the 1987 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test with a jumping index of 146.62. He was an elite Stallion in Germany and has produced 127 approved sons and 59 state premium mares. His progeny represented Contender in many international events: Checkmate won  the Rider’s Tour with Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum in 2005, teamgold at the 2010 WEG in Kentucky and won the Nations Cup in Wellington in 2012. Ludger Beerbaum’s mare Chiara, who was 2nd at the WC in Lyon 2014 as well as winning the five star Grand Prix in Doha and Marco Kutscher‘s Montender: German Champion of 2003, bronze medallist at the Athens Olympics and European Champion in 2005.

Contessa‘s Grand dam Viola was the mother of the famous Holsteiner stallion Lord. Lord, himself a successful 3 day horse, sired more than 60 stallion sons and his progeny won more than €3,000.000. His most famous son Livius won the 1980 German Showjumping Derby under Peter Luther, and then team medals at the 1981 European Championships, the World Championships of 1982 and the 1984 Olympic Games.

His sire Diarado was born in 2005 and has established a new stallion-dynasty in modern show jumping  by creating the new “D Line” in Holsteiner breeding. Diarado was stand-out stallion performance test winner in 2008. In 2013, he ranked No 1 in the FN show jumping and in the top half of the dressage breeding value estimation and has maintained his position in the top group since. He has an outstanding jump technique and is a fantastic mover with superb conformation.  Diarado is from the famous and highly successful stamm 318 d2 which has produced a large number of outstanding stallions.

Volante’s grandsire, Diamant de Semilly an international showjumper, won team gold at the World Championships at Jerez and team silver a year later at the European Championships. In 2015 he was ranked first in the WBFSH world ranking of the best show jumping sires.
