Caledonia MVNZ is a very modern and athletic mare. She is elegant and has fantastic movement . Caledonia has a lot of scope, with great technique, and is careful and brave. She competed successfully up to 1.30m but due to injury was retired as a broodmare.

Breeding

Dam Distant Star LS is by Distelfink, a Hanoverian stallion by Diskus. Distelfink was licensed as a breeding stallion in Germany prior to importing into New Zealand in 1982. Distelfink produced Horse of the Year Winners, Young Horse of the Year, Show Hunter of the Year and national champions in dressage and eventing. He was 3rd on the WBFSH/FEI sires list for event horses in 1997/98 season.

Sire Senator VDL was bred at the world famous VDL Stud in Holland. On both sides of his family, he has very potent jumping blood: Corland, Cor de la Bryere, Landgraf, Voltaire and Nimmerdor. His progeny out competing are scopey and careful and are competitive sporthorses both in showjumping and eventing. Senator VDL is sire of the top New Zealand eventing horse, Balmoral Sensation, who was placed 5th at the Badminton Horse Trials 2016 and 6th at the Rio Olympics.
